Pretty Boring, But I'm Gonna Be a TV Star!

So I haven't written anything in a while.  Been extra busy, I tell myself.  But then I can't remember what i've been so busy doing.  So I started thinking about it.  And I came up with this.

I've been working entirely too much.  I like my job, but it's not my career, school is way more important, so I cut my hours back again.  I did get my first inventory bonus last friday.  How cool is that.  Extra money.  Just cause.  Can't complain.  I did my taxes and found out that I am getting back way more money than i thought.  I haven't gotten a tax refund in many years.  The one and only perk so far to being broke.

I got my hair cut last thursday.  It was very scary.  Didn't turn out exactly as i'd imagined, but it's growing on me.  Shane and Russ said it's rad.  And anyone who's seen russ' profile knows that russ knows hair-style.  Here is a pic.

I also got a manicure and pedicure last week.  Lots of fun that was.  I haven't had a pedicure in ages.  I felt quite silly and pretentious, but i must say it was a little bit fun.  And now my toes are all pretty.  Cause that's important.

My friend John comes home from iraq today!  I couldn't be happier about that.  He rocks, and I'm tired of him having to deal with so much bullshit.  I'm so glad he made it through ok, and i can't wait to see him.

So we played poker saturday night, and i had to quit cause i had this awful crampy pain in my abdomen.  I took advil, but to no avail, it got so bad i was crying and moaning and groaning and writhing, so chris made me go to the emergency room.  They were kinda rude there at first.  I'd had a bit to drink earlier at poker, so of course i was just a trashy wino.  Later, it became more clear that i was really hurting, and they started to be a little nicer.  They screwed up my iv in the cat scan place and pumped all the dye stuff in my hand instead of my veins.  It puffed up freakishly and looked like i was hiding a baseball under my skin.  Yuk.  Made me sick to my stomach.  Then noone could get another IV in.  That blew.  I just cried and cried like a little baby.  i hate pain.  I'm not a fan at all.  The third person who tried finally got a stupid thing in and they did the test.  Lots of other more humiliating things were done to me, but i survived.  I just had some type of infection.  i'm recovering now on antibiotics and pain pills.

I am lying on my new bed right now.  It's the greatest. i got a memory foam mattress topper because my feather bed was dead.  I love it.  it's so nice i may never get out.  man!

Oh, i'm gonna be a famous tv star!  I was invited by one of my former professors to be the student rep on a panel of community leaders last thursday discussing citizenship and democracy for some producer from nyc.  he's making a show for pbs.  it was a fantastic time, and i didn't pass out once!  I even spoke up, and held my own as one of only a couple of people who made sense in a room full of super conservative right-wingers.  it will involve some legislators in dc and be aired in june.  evidently the producer (he really is famous, but I can't remember his name!) records several of these 'panels' in deifferent parts of the country, where we discuss some questions about citizenship and democracy raised by a moderator.  He then edits them together and makes one video.   he takes that to some event in DC involving senators and congressmen, who watch the tape and then add their comments to our ideas.  Again with the editing, and voila!  A PBS special, and I'm famous!   and you knew me when...  ;o)
